Women's Self-Defense Workshop

Empower yourself with our weekend reality-based women's self-defense workshop. Learn effective self-defense techniques and how to apply them in real situations!

The A.C.T. Learn Women’s Self-Defense in a Weekend workshop provides training in both psychological and physical self-defense techniques. Girls age 15-17 may participate with parental permission. Due to some of the mature content, girls age 12 to 14 may participate with a parent or guardian.

This workshop provides training in psychological and physical self-defense techniques to empower women. The workshop is 8 hours long, with sessions on Saturday, November 11 and Sunday November 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The A.C.T. Women’s Self-Defense program is NOT a martial arts program, nor is it a fighting system. Most martial arts programs do not expressly address violence against women, which is distinctly different than male-on-male violence.

The A.C.T. Women’s Self-Defense Workshop is taught by women and starts with escapes from common grabs, which are typically the predecessor to a more violent attack. Next is delivering powerful strikes so you can get way safely, and last is getting up from the ground, and getting up when someone is on top of you. The last portion of each day is an optional aggressor session.

In the aggressor session, the male co-instructor simulates a real attack while wearing a protective “aggressor suit”. Co-instructors are high-ranking martial arts practitioners, so they are well-versed in simulating attacks without injuring. The protective aggressor suit allows workshop participants to experience distress “tunnel vision” and safely use full speed and strength to get away.

To ensure all participants have an opportunity to participate in the aggressor sessions, class size is limited. Registration will be disabled once the class is full.
